As a child, video games were an outlet for my perfectionism. Whether I was capturing every Pokémon or just trying to complete Aladdin, my aim was to achieve perfection in each game I played. But as I’ve grown, my view of gaming has evolved. Video games form lifelong friends. In no other medium can friends band together and go on a quest and then talk about their shared experiences over dinner. Video games offer a level of immersion of which movies and television can only dream. Seeing a companion, I’ve grown to love, perish because of a choice I made affects me at my emotional core. Musical scores, enhanced by personal interaction, can take a person on a rollercoaster of emotions. So, why do I love video games? The more appropriate question is how could one not.

Why do I love gaming? It is a difficult question to answer. Something about the ability to go to entirely new worlds, being the first person to explore this new ground. Or maybe it’s being able to crash a 3 million dollar car into a wall, and the only consequence is I respawn in 3rd place instead of 1st.  The biggest reason is the sharing of my experiences with others who have gone on similar journeys. I can talk to my friends about how I defended America from the Russians or when I defeated Saruan to defend Middle Earth. Generally, people associate things they love with amazing experiences, and gaming has been one great experience for me.

I love gaming because it allows me to be what I am not. Gaming allows me to be an assassin, bounding off of rooftops and leaping into crowds to make my kill. Gaming allows me to be an adventurer looking for a lost piece of history that overcomes insurmountable odds. It allows me to go places that I’ve never been before or to places that might not exist in our dimension. Gaming allows me to take risks with little negative consequences. It allows me to prove I am better than everyone else via my might or intellectual ability. I can go to the future, I can visit the past, I can alter the present. Gaming isn’t passive, I am not simply watching TV or a movie; I am not having a story told to me through a book. I am actively involved with how a character evolves. Gaming is a part of my life, and a part of me. I love gaming.

I enjoy gaming for various reasons. In a way, it's an escape, a way to release stress and relish in wonderful graphics. I also enjoy video games for to their story and uniqueness. How often do you see otherworldly characters walking down the street? NEVER! Video games provide a whole new experience that reality often doesn't offer.

I have had some of my greatest experiences while gaming. I am able to connect with friends, be or do something amazing I could never do in real life, and experience some of the best art and music in the world. I love gaming because I can interact with family and friends I normally couldn't be with. It’s also a lot of fun to come home after having a bad day and feel like a hero or if I choose, a villain. And, who couldn't love the beautiful art and music. Games have some of the best music I have ever heard for example, "Never Forget" in Halo 3. And, games have unbelievable graphics that refresh my eyes. Gaming is an outstanding experience that I have come to love.

I love gaming! I love gaming because you are able to do pretty much anything you want. I love gaming because when I’m having a bad day I can own zombies or sprint rooftop to rooftop or even be a hero. Gaming is a great way to escape the worries and responsibilities of life and have fun in the process.
